Red Tent

Lakshmi is the mother Goddess of abundance and one of many forms of Shakti, the feminine energy of the Universe. She is the embodiment of contentment and possibility. Lakshmi shows us the way to never-ending abundance is through the gratitude, grace, and non attachment. She invites us to approach life from a perspective of fulfillment and abundance. Through guided meditation, mantra, and discussion, we will work with our inner goddess Lakshmi. Bring a journal and your favorite pen and learn how to tap into your infinite potential and abundance with Goddess Lakshmi.
Pia Das is a yoga teacher, spiritual activist, lawyer, and personal development coach. When not doing those things, you might find her writing, rescuing animals, singing kirtan. She grew up in a spiritual family and was introduced to the philosophy of yoga at a young age. In 2006, she was initiated into the lineage of the Ramakrishna Order of India by her beloved teacher Swami Swahananda. Shortly thereafter, she discovered the physical practice of yoga or the asanas. It was around the same time she began practicing law. Pia soon realized that the practice of yoga gave her numerous health benefits, and a sense of steadiness and peace in a hectic and demanding environment. This inspired her to study yoga more deeply and to share the practice with others.
Pia completed a yoga teacher training program with Sean Johnson and Mitchel Bleier at Wild Lotus Yoga in New Orleans. She took several soul-searching journeys to India to dive deeper into my practice and fell in love with Bhakti yoga, or the yoga of love and devotion. Pia leads women’s empowerment workshops and is one of the co-founders of Houston’s Shakti at the Bhakti community. She writes about yoga on her blog “Being In the Stillness.”
